Dear SI people, I'd just like to point out that I am back on line [if I choose]. So please don't write stuff in the other threads bemoaning my absence which is now by choice rather than eviction by Silicon Investor management. I think some misunderstood my 2 day exclusion as permanent. It was not - it was only intended by SI as a couple of days.

It is flattering, if a bit embarrassing to have received so many compliments [and to keep things in perspective, some criticisms]. But it does reinforce the idea that there are a LOT of people who read these posts we all write and Silicon Investor gets a LOT of value out of our contributions. It also means there were many people who understood what was going on and that it was NOT just a dogfight between two aggressive protagonists [with some Lunar supporters]. It was an attempt to clean the place up and it sure did work! Thanks for your help in that regard folks. A shame that Silicon Investor ignored requests to remove posts and discipline Jim Willie who threatened, defamed, abused, used coarse vulgarities and some of you will know what was said. Poet's posts were also not restricted. Neither were Jill's. Now I am thought of as just another dog in a fight by many. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to try to earn my damaged reputation back again. A shame SI couldn't have helped in the first place. I also hope the threats of physical attack do not become reality.

We are SI's customers, as are their advertizers. SI would do well to manage their customers a lot better than they have in the Q! Zone.

Any ranting about SI, terms of use, bad eggs etc should be done elsewhere than the 'good threads'; do them here for instance. So please cease the 'I support Maurice and let him come back' posts in the good threads. You achieved your aim of an improved working environment [and the continued affliction of huge rants from the Mouth of the South]

Anyway, I won't go on just now. I'll be away for a few days. I didn't want anyone to think I was sulking, scared off, taken my bat and ball and gone home because I couldn't get my way etc.

But, I'm not happy with the outcome. I'll have a discussion with SI when I return.

Meanwhile, I hope the SI San Diego gathering on Sunday is interesting!

What would you say the average SI member is worth to SI?

With over $2bn market cap, Go2Net has got a significant business at risk. A significant chunk of that must derive from the SI component. I wonder what the Q! Region is worth to them. I wonder what the many professional and expert posters here are worth.

This is our place of work. We do not like our place of work to be managed like this.

PS: I posted this here, in the WWYL zone so that people could not complain about more wasted space. I'll pop a link in a couple of other threads so they can go right back on track [because people don't read here].

I thought I'd respond to you Katz because I'm sorry that I appear to have offended you. All I can think of is that you asked somebody here to keep it On Topic and some said 'hey, anything is OK here' and I chimed in, I thought in a friendly way, to agree that people should be able to write pretty much what they like. Including asking them NOT to write OT stuff. I really do think pretty much anything can be considered On Topic [if sensible etc]. Ramsey used to berate me [SI doesn't like 'berating', but I never thought it was offensive] for going on about politics as part of Q! discussions. Now of course, CDMA, Qualcomm and politics are so closely inter-twined on a world-wide scale it's hard to tell the difference.

Same for monetary policy.

So, I'm sorry to Katz and other people who [or whom] I've inadvertently offended. Also, please bear in mind that the way I write includes quite a bit of tongue-in-cheek and it's up to individual thinkers to laugh at what should be laughed at, ignore what is obviously rubbish [or preferably correct me], think about what's valid, but most importantly, decide for themselves what they want to accept.

"Dow 16,000" for example, does carry a double-your-money-back guarantee, but you should still think for yourselves rather than just think 'whoa, if he thinks that, then I better double my bets quick'.

Okay, we outa here....
