A biased 3G discussion on real audio that took place this afternoon. It's about 25 minutes long. It might have mild entertainment value for those who understand the 3G technical issues. Those who don't probably won't learn much.

The V.P. of IDC was involved. His primary bias was exposed as he kept stressing how Shannon's law allows more info in a wider channel and W-CDMA in particular. I'm not up on information theory, the presentation left me with a couple of questions.

1) How much wider is W-CDMA than 3xrtt, if at all?

2) Are both 1xrtt and 3xrtt referred to as CDMA2000 by Qualcomm or just 3xrtt?

3)I wonder how three narrower channels compare with one wide channel when it comes to actual bits/hertz. I know this one doesn't have an easy answer that is absolute.
