Ken,

It's getting harder to determine who Cisco's real competitors are going forward. Cisco does so many things now that the startups only represent a small threat across it's product mix.

A lot of people thing the "biggest, fastest tera router" is where all the money is. I totally disagree! That market is not going to be very big. Cisco is concentrating on fanning out from optical fiber to feed metro markets and smaller. Cisco will succeed in large scale transport because it wants to be there!

Cisco has very successfully wrapped up the business markets and is now going for the consumer markets in the future. All that advertising on TV signals their next big move in the next few years.


I agree with you that Nortel has room to grow, in fact there is a lot of room for LU, NT, CSCO and others in this huge growing market.
