While it's obvious that the data connection extends the LAN the FAX and Voice link capabilities aren't so obvious at first. Using Data Race's solution your remote fax capabilites are the same as being in the office with access to the main corporate fax servers. You not only maintain your usual incoming "fax box" but any outgoing faxes you send can be handled with the extra advantages a fax server provides such as "broadcast fax" to multiple recipients, "delayed transmissions" to take advantage of having them queued and later transmitted during nights/weekends when long distance charges are lower not to mention keeping all the toll charges on the company's dialing plan.

The Voice advantages are also somewhat obvious since you're seamlessly extending your same private extension number and features such as being able to put calls on hold while consulting or conferencing in another department but you'll also be able to benefit by being tied into any corporate CTI applications such as "rolling phone lists" for telemarketers or other sales personnel, "intelligent branching" which allows incoming calls to be automatically routed to the proper teleworker groups, and of course having all the phone logs maintained in the same central server.

Given an analog POTS line one can handle all of the above provided data bandwidth isn't a key issue but if it is, or if one does a lot of fax work VW-IP over a DSL connection would be far more appropriate.

You just aren't going to be able to supply the above with a DSL line or cable box alone, you need the help of additional equipment at the office and some sort of advanced client capabilities at the remote locations. Will some of the potentials end up choosing Data Race's solution? I'm guessing yes as this market starts its growth phase.
