Chuck, Cirruslvr, Petz, Mani, Pravin, Kash, Jim, Ted and all:

I would like to see a good discussion on this from all you guys. Check this out. Based on the lowest prices on Pricewatch -

----------------------------- Athlon -------------------------------

500 550 600 650 700
$173 => +$16 => $189 => +$27 => $216 => +$45 => $261 => +$205 => $466

Look at the price difference collapse among 500 to 650 Athlons.

I think, AMD is aggressively shifting the market sweet spot to 650MHz!

The difference between 500MHz and 650MHZ cpus is just $88 !!!

I bet, pretty soon all the OEMS will drop 500-600 models from their Athlon line up and go straight to 650MHz.

With OEMS shift to 650Mhz, AMD will gradually eliminate the Athlons down binned to 500 - 600MHz, which will eventually be replaced by K6-2+.

Now, let me hear your comments and analysis on this.

Regards,
Goutama
