So if Intel can find a 'canned vliw' project, they could bring it to market in 6-8 months? Wow, I guess the software would be all stored away and ready to go also? Essentially, you're saying they have what Transmeta has, under wraps but ready to go. Really. OK. sure....
Remember, as was pointed out in the introduction Wednesday (you can still watch it on RealVideo at ZDnet), 3/4 of of the complexity of the Crusoe processor is in the software. Plus to bring an X86 processor to market, it takes months of just testing and fixing against every Windows program you can find, there is no simple design specification to validate an X86 processor.
