I know he is not short this stock, he just truly believes in the technological superiority of HDR, and he might be right. But I think MCOM will do just fine in the meantime. And as far as QCOM's cost model of $40-50/month unlimited access, I still am not convinced of that. Models can be skewed to say whatever you want them to say. As an engineer and analyst, I've skewed models and calculations in my favor many times :-) As far as the maximum data rate for MCOM, the current technology can achieve a theoretical max data rate of approximately 800 kbps from what I've read, and the R2 service will have a nominal data rate of 128 kbps, but most users will experience greater than 128 kbps. And DSL data rates are in the near future with just software upgrades. And one other thing, MCOM and MCI/WCOM are building the infrastructure for R2 to cover 100 million people within the year. QCOM still has to convince carriers to buy and deploy HDR. I think QCOM will do just fine, but so will MCOM.
