I evidently never answered Mike's good questions. I simply asked a lot more, not very useful. Here is a more general question.
As the pace of the technological advance increases, will not the unique architectures have shorter and shorter lives, leading finally to a situation where the companies with a product, hardware or software, do less well than the service companies because keeping up will be the main challenge and the better computer service companies are set up for continuous learning by the employees. That was a question and my own answer is yes, the Gorilla Game will be considerably less important 20 years from now. Some of this was prompted by my hearing from several sources that Andersen Consulting is making huge profits. They have neither patents nor famous software products.
