eddie,
if i wanted to chase any little balls today, i'd have to use orange or yellow ones and wear snowshoes....damn snow.
PDX--i guess you guys are buying this for its value...because it sure isn't setting anything on fire.
news out about lawsuit being dismissed after close on friday... biz.yahoo.com
i don't follow this company much, but from a cursory look, it has good book value and it looks to have bottomed.
from a professional look, not many organizations like this survive. trying to organize a group of physicians to work for a large organization is like herding cats. we're all too stubborn and independent. most of these endeavors end up losing money. as an example,,,i'll outline a couple of situations that i know from friends.
Allegheny Health System bought a bunch of practices in Penn and NJ,,,everyone thought it was great....it failed after about 3 years...all the private docs that sold their business to the system were dismissed...and their contracts ended...the system had bought the practices and the docs became employees. The physicians became employees because Allegheny gave them an offer they couldn't refuse....and Allegheny overextended. The docs couldn't bring in as much money to the company as the company were paying them,,,so it failed...Allegheny ended up bankrupt.
Nemours is a nonprofit organization arising out of DuPont's trust after he died. It is set aside for care of children and elderly in Delaware and Florida. Nemours wanted to hire a bunch of private pediatricians to work for them in Florida. Same thing,,,overpaid,,,docs couldn't keep up with the demands nor could they work hard enough to cover their own salary....pooooof,,,,Nemours fired the docs...
Sorry about my bad perspective. I personally wouldn't invest in this from a long term fundamental perspective. From a contrarian and value view, you probably got some room for a bit of profit, but I wouldn't let the profits sit too long...or keep a tight stop on it once you've got some gains....
this is just one person's view...hope it helps...and sorry i couldn't have brought a warmer perspective.
btw--hope the missus is ok...
