Tony and thread,

A weekend chuckle for the snowbound - from Bernie Schaeffer's optionsource.com:

"Here's a sign of the times. When it comes to the Internet, the town of Halfway is going whole hog. On Wednesday evening, the leaders of this town of 345 inhabitants in eastern Oregon voted to officially change its name for the year to "Half.com" - the first "dot-com" city in the world. "By changing our name to Half.com, our community can greatly benefit from the success of the Internet," Mayor Dick Crow said following the vote. "We hope that through this exposure we can develop a number of cottage industries that will help our economic base grow." The deal, worth an estimated $110,000 in Internet expertise and computer hardware for the town, was put to the citizens of Halfway by the founders of Half.com, a new Internet company specializing in second-hand consumer products. What's next? Appleton, Wisconsin, changing its name to Apple.com? "
