Dear caveat: MSFT development tools are not nearly as respected as Inprise/Borland tools when it comes to the development of Windows applications: deja.com With regard to the effect MSFT development tools has on its bottomline, if you check the latest SEC report for MSFT (available over at Yahoo) you'll find that it is not a driving revenue generator: "Revenue from Microsoft Exchange Server and software developer tools was steady."
