Eric L: My personal preference is that Qualcomm stay independent as long as Dr J will stay in charge.

As good as Cisco is, a Q / Cisco mix would be apples and oranges.

I would feel the same about JDSU.

When you have great leadership, especially leadership which is both completely immersed in the technology and excellent managers to boot, why dilute it?

Suggest the best for us as investors is a continuation of the current leadership for Qualcomm and for JDS Uniphase.

Their great strength in both cases is that they are in the best possible areas of technological growth and they both are far and away ahead of any other company within their fields.

Yes I know the Q is a gorilla and JDSU a mere king.

But as I have suggested earlier re JDSU - "What a king ! "

And I have no intention of reducing my Q holdings until there is some change in the Q's fundamentals. (Think half is about right)

Actually I would not be a all surprised to see JDSU do as well as the Q in terms of growth and performance over the next 5 years or so. Just plan to watch more carefully.

But we will see, won't we.

Best.

Cha2
