I'm in the throws of some research on a new bead of companies this weekend. It's amazing what you uncover, and how the research takes you to companies that buy from and sell products to guys like RFMD.
I am following the lead or some knowledgeable guys and the trail of of some new companies in the optical area.
JDSU and ETEK and SDLI are on most people's radar screens these days (how can they not be!), but there are dozens of secondary, teriary and even quaternary tiers of companies doing interesting things, like TOC for example.
These companies are moving or entering the optical province, with specialized products. They sell equipment to, or products for the optical guys.
They are mostly profitable, and mostly overlooked, and undervalued (by the standards we currently employ to value stuff these days....).
I'll drop by and mention others when I find them (or think I have). We share these findings regularly on my home thread (Invest/LTD), as well as many other active thread on SI.
After all......we're all on a hunt for the next JDSU, aren't we?
