You're fortunate also to be in a business that has a strong tactile component. Not many people are willing to buy jewelry from a catalog, so why would they be expected to buy it from a web site?

I was momentarily wondering about why books hadn't been sold via catalog in the past. The answer to that is simple: a printed catalog of book inventory would be enormous.
