Hmmm... you might want to take a look at:

I find two points particularly interesting. The first is (slides 5&6) that the Austin .18 yields gate lengths of 120nm while the Dresden .18 yields gate lengths of 100nm. So it looks like the Dresden .18 is maybe more of a .15 - that AMD still expects will be in full production by the end of Q2 - not just starting up.

Now look at slide 9. It shows a small amount of production of .13 (with gate lengths as short as 50nm according to slide 7). Ramping slowly during the year starting in early 2000.

Given that the Athlon core at .25 ran about 15% faster than the Pentium core at the same feature size, and given that AMD's recent launches have been more timely than Intel's, I think the general situation is still looking better than OK for AMD.

Rember that .13 is the generation that is expected to strongly benefit from copper interconnects, and AMD is developing production experience now, while Intel is perfecting a terrific Aluminum production technology that even they consider to be a dead end.
