GURNEE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000--
TeraBridge teams with VINA Technologies, Advanced Switching
Communications, Flexion Systems, and Newbridge Networks to demo interoperability of diverse technologies

TeraBridge Technologies Corp., leading developer of call and
connection control software for broadband networks, today announced it
will host a demonstration at the COMNET tradeshow in Washington, D.C.
that will show interoperability of multiple vendors' hardware and
software products. The demonstration, taking place between Jan. 25-27,
will feature technologies from VINA Technologies, Advanced Switching
Communications (ASC), Flexion Systems, TeraBridge Technologies, and
Newbridge Networks. The demonstration will prove that ATM has evolved
to the point where carriers can now converge and deliver voice, data,
and video services over a unified network, while also dramatically
reducing their costs and dependencies on legacy equipment.

All members participating in the demonstration are part of the
ATM Local Telephony Alliance, a new trade consortium created to
promote the interoperability of emerging Asynchronous Transfer Mode
(ATM) technologies. The demonstration will be taking place in
TeraBridge's booth No. 1706, which is located on the main floor at
COMNET. ALTA will also be exhibiting at COMNET (booth No. 1182) and
will provide information about membership, as well as its mission of
promoting the development of cost-effective, fully integrated local
exchange networks using ATM for voice and data services. Other ALTA
members exhibiting at the show include Convergent Networks, booth No.
1646; VINA, booth No. 1762; and ASC, booth No. 575. Flexion will have
personnel on hand in TeraBridge's booth No. 1706, which will also
include Newbridge's MainStreetXpress 36170 switch.
"This demonstration illustrates that interoperable,
next-generation networks are available today, and can provide carriers
with a wealth of services that will create distinct market
advantages," said Gary Brown, president of TeraBridge Technologies.
"All of ALTA's members bring dynamic solutions to the evolution of ATM
and this particular demonstration is a fantastic way to show off some
of these capabilities."

About the Demonstration:

The Broadband Central Office will be equipped with a variety of
ATM vendor hardware and software products from the five ALTA members
participating in the demonstration.

At the customer premise, the Multiservice Xchange(TM) (MX)
Integrated Access Device (IAD) from VINA Technologies will be
connected directly to the customer's LAN and telephone equipment to
deliver voice, video, data and Internet services. The Flexion
BusinessGuardian(TM) X300(TM) system will then integrate voice and
data applications into one unit, enabling employees to access them
directly from their phone or PC. Multiple services' traffic will be
carried over a single connection to the service provider network (T1
ATM and ISDN Primary Rate Interface).

At local central offices, ASC's broadband services access
platforms, the A-1000s, aggregate multiservice traffic from multiple
customers onto single high-speed copper or fiber connections to an ATM
switch and provide QoS. The MainStreetXpress(TM) 36170 from Newbridge
Networks provides high-speed ATM switching functions for voice, data
and video services, connecting to and from the PSTN and Internet while
preserving QoS. The entire call connection and control sequence is
monitored and managed by TeraBridge's PathMinder(TM) software suite.
PathMinder directs traffic from all customers to the PSTN, the
Internet or other data networks. PathMinder, running on an attached
server, provides SS7 interworking to and from the PSTN using SS7
signaling and call management, which turns the MainStreetXpress into a
virtual Class 5 switch when combined with the software's ability to
also provide records for billing and administration.
