I don't know how long you've been reading the BB but I've said all along that Intel would make their numbers but might have to throw in some additional revenue from stock sales etc. to do it. I haven't determined that was the case yet but what they DID do is BEAT the estimate soundly enough so even with a few more fudge cents in there wall street was satisfied. IMHO, even .61 would have been amazing in light of the muck ups. So what I think is that all the bad news during the quarter had held down the stock to where anything short of a disaster would cause a relief rally.
It's not up to me to embrace Intels tactics. If they were all that bad relative to what the street was expecting then the stock would have been trashed. It's pretty obvious that Intel will even "scramble" to protect it's earnings string. I suppose they will do the same for the next few quarters if need be with the hope of getting to the Itanium and Willamette. Meanwhile, AMD can make some hay, regardless.
