(internet reality) Of course how many ISP's
does it take to get everbody on the net. How
much bandwidth does a person need when the
best information off the net is the written
word--and your movies and teeve are beamed
down on DirecTV?

Biotechs on the other hand will increasingly
do what big pharma should be doing--cannibalizing
their own products with better solutions. That
said, there are a few big research driven pharmas
that we never talk about here, nobody is going
to criticize Merck for not doing enuf biotech.
(whoops, now that I've read the rest of the
subthread I see now that a couple folks already
brought up Merck).

Healthcare as a percentage of the American GNP is
awfully high but what would you spend for the cure you
need--if you've got the money good health and long life
are worth paying for.

I'd also add that there is a huge demand for better
drugs for mental conditions. Somebody brought up
pharmacogenomics--mabye that is where we will see
the best use of pharmacogenomics over the years
ahead. For instance, the McFarland insomniac pedigree
is not being threated very effectively--what the males
in my familty wouldn't give for the perfect night's sleep!
