OT-Steve, not sure of your background, but I can assure you these are real figures. How many successful plastic surgeons or eye surgeons do you know? Some eye surgeons gross over $40,000/day (cataracts @ $1,000/eye x 2 x 20 per day). Dr. Gill, a prominent eye surgeon in Florida grosses double that. Owns half the beach front property on the Gulf side.

To say that it is "impossible" for anyone to earn 5 million by "just" performing a professional service is ignorant. Surgeons go to school until they are about 35 years old. That's about 30 years of schooling! To think that someone who sacrifices that much for so long would not have huge earning potential is shortsighted. Look at how much LAWYERS can make for "just providing professional services". They can make MUCH more that 5 million/year.

My friend does 5-7 "major" surgeries/week @ an ave. of $20,000/per. Not trying to brag about surgeons' salaries, just responding to your post. I guess it depends on how good the surgeon is and how aggressive he/she wants to be. Some surgeons I know shy away from elective major cases b/c of the malpractice exposure.

And I realize that there are some MD's (and teachers) out there who get paid less that some union workers/laborers. That's the problem with unions though. But that is another discussion.

BTW, I don't discuss my income, but let's just say my friends are amazed at how much I make trading options.
There is alot of money to be made in this country--any way you choose to make it!!!

Nice talking with you.

-Steve
