New RB discussion board on WEBM/"backdoor" WEBM plays:

Hmm, daytraders are already lining up to the starting gate. I find it unfortunate that so many posters are saying that FBR is a backdoor stock play into WEBM. As I've opined before, FBR.com is probably the best chance for most non-rich retail investors to get an IPO allocation of WEBM.

With that said, I believe FBR Technology Ventures owns around ~5% of WEBM but FBRTV is a very TINY part of FBR, and I don't anticipate WEBM will have a material effect on FBR financials in the foreseeable future.

As for other "back-door" WEBM plays... Well, I'm sure you've already heard my comments on THCG in that CBS Marketwatch.com article, but qualified my followup post on the SI THCG thread saying that the stake THCG holds in WEBM has not been publicly disclosed (like that of "XML/wireless" company Interleaf, which THCG says it has a stake in) and could conceivably be any number (maybe even a totally immaterial number of shares).

As for ODIS, I wasn't aware that ODIS owns a 10% stake in WEBM (though everyone's saying on the messg boards), I'll have to look into it. I do know the 2 companies have a longstanding relationship. I also do know that all of ODIS stock's outperformance can be attributed to incorporating XML into their shifting business model rather than their struggling object-oriented enterprise database business.
