There's a lot of connection between Vancouver and Seattle ... one few remember is that William Boeing started by taking over in the 20s the shipyard in Coal Harbour that had built the first aeroplane in Canada, a flying boat of course. A lot of BA's engineers retire to the Gulf Islands on both sides of the border. We live not far from Van, and go shopping in Seattle nearly as much as there, and we fly out of SeaTac more than Sea Island. For technology people it's almost like there is no border, they have an easy time getting a green card or a canadian work permit ... the brain drain here seems to flow mostly south though, due to stiffer canadian taxes and regulations. The whole area does go together to form a regional market whose connections grow, and which has a higher per-capita use of the internet than most places on the planet [canadians are more likely than americans to be connected to the internet, as has always been true with the telephone ... forget where i read that, but it was recent .. only a few per cent difference though].
mycitymarket.com will have competition for sure. This may be the place to start looking for it - dir.yahoo.com .. we're not listed there yet, btw ... i guess adverts will suck up some capital in the near term, that seems to be the way, to spend money to capture market share, then ideally when you start to please customers word of mouth takes over ... well i'll try the service maybe, then mouth it up ... soon as i catch more than nominal shares -g- .... cheers |
