Indications I've read are that dozens of new fabs are being started. Here's a similar article:

This is good for ATMI since it's easier to get their equipment in up front than it is to retrofit. I'm thinking primarily about the SDS systems, but it holds for effluent abatement also. The beauty of ATMI is that once the hardware, for instance SDS equipment, is in place, there should be a steady flow of orders for the gas cannisters. Think razors and razor blades. This should make it a lot easier to manage the next cycle downturn, since production is typically maintained while equipment purchases are cut back.
