We were thinking along the same path.

Being able to emulate other instruction sets may make Crusoe a superb Java performer, which is the same market Patriot is targeting after. But since Patriot's chip is offering 100 MHz performance for less than $10 each, the two are not in overlapping markets.

Patriot is not going after the x86 market, but Crusoe is. In doing this, Transmeta will kill itself.
