So, just how big is the market for Xonon?

GE has an installed base of 6,000 turbines worldwide. GENXON power systems has an agreement with GE that GE will market the Xonon system and services. GE also produces about 300 new industrial natural gas turbines per year.

SolarTurbines has an installed base of over 10,500 turbines. Catalytica is working directly with Solar.

Pratt&Whitney Canada is designing two turbines for the distributed power market, the ST18 and ST20. These turbines will come with Xonon as standard equipment.

A Kawasaki M1A-13A natural gas turbine has served as an extensive test bed for Xonon technology. Has been operating full-time at Silicon Valley Power providing electricity to the grid with, until now, unheard-of low emissions. Kawasaki has an installed base of about 4,200 turbines.

I do not know how much Catalytica plans to charge for Xonon on smaller turbines, but I have heard numbers on the order of $1 million for a large GE turbine with about $200,000 per year thereafter. Yes, it is like Gillette; they get you to buy the razor and then you keep buying replacement blades forever! Even at that price, it is the cheapest control technology available to reach NOx < 15 ppm.
