Sorin: You've zeroed in on a key drawback for the furniture.com consumer imo: operational variability of the manufacturers they represent. As it appears they do not touch the merchandise (they be stupid to do so), furniture.com cannot guarantee product fulfillment.

In contrast, I have greater confidence in a site like restorationhardware.com that really stands behind its merchandise. Hence, my strategy is to buy first at sites like crateandbarrel.com and then at furniture.com for the remainder. However, given the tremendous selection at the latter, I expect to purchase perhaps 50% of my requirements from furniture.com. fwiw, Rob
