Berto,

Intel does not make analog circuits of the type which IMPX makes that drive (write) the head or amplify the small signals (read) comming off a disk head and process them. I doubt if MOT or TI have a competing part. The parts would have to be form, fit and functionally compatible or it would require a board redesign. Servicing would be a nightmare without interchangable parts. Easier said than done.

Why do this, when all IOMG has to do is have the rights to the glass masks and the ability to contract with one of IMP's foundrys, if they can't deliver. I fail to see any incentive to switch, as long as IMPX meets price and delivery.

Any other's with thoughts on this?

Terry H.
