Could you please point out where you read revenues are projected to decline? That's quite the reverse of what management has afforded.

Jim, I wouldn't recommend relying entirely on management for this kind of info. Here's a repost of the link to an independent analysis:

multexinvestor.com

Here's the excerpt that reports earnings:

Multex Data Group Industry Sector:
Multex Data Group Peer Group:
Consensus Recommendation: HOLD
Consensus Annual Earnings Estimates: 1999 = $0.51 2000 = $0.35

The evaluation of Interdigital Communications by the single Wall Street analyst following the company indexes its
shares as a "Hold." The weighted consensus ranking or AQO of the company is 0.40. This lies between the .35 and
.749 AQO levels considered necessary for a "Hold" recommendation.

The analyst expects the company to show a
decline in earnings in 1999 of 32.0%. For 2000 another increase of 31.4% is expected. This would represent a jump
from 1998's $0.75 per share to $0.51 in 1999 and $0.35 in 2000.

Technology
Mid-Sized Telcomm Equipment Manufacturers
1999 = Much Worse
2000 = Much Worse
Previous Week Close: Ticker: Exchange: $37.50 IDC AMEX Saturday, January 22, 2000

Please note, when read in context, it appears there is an error. I believe "For 2000 another increase of 31.4% is expected." should actually read "For 2000 another decrease of 31.4% is expected." At least that is how I read it.

The link above also has some links to purchase some more complete analysis (I assume) if you are willing to pay for it. Since I have no position in IDC and no plans to have a position unless the outlook changes in a fundemental way, I don't think I will fork over the money but I imagine some IDC longs have. If anyone has read these fee based independent analysis, I would be interested to hear whether they are considered worthwhile. Here are two that are available.
