Robert, I realize that you have lost a ton of money here, and I understand your frustration. However, I must take issue with a few of your statemenets.
You have compared DLGC with NMSS and BRKT. In the short run these companies may outperform DLGC, however, DLGC is clearly the technology leader. Our company uses NMS boards for our VM platform. All of the engineers are jumping up and down because they finally get a dual channel T1, reducing the board count for 2 T1 spans from 3 to 1. I, however, must yawn because our dept has built a product on DLGC. We have had dual span T1's for almost a year (DLGC has announced a recall of all dual T1's from what I understand). Even prior to that, we had T1/E1 on 1 board not 2. With Dm3, DLGC is running 4 T1 spans on a single VMBus or PCI board. Do not underestimate the significance of this. With DM3, I can put 12-16 T1 spans in a single box. Modern CPU's laready have the horsepower. THat is a lot of capacity. I have worked with DLGC, BRKT, NMSS and Rhetorex. DLGC is miles ahead of everybody else in board technolgy. They also have the broadest set of international protocol support. If you want to build a intl CT product fast, DLGC is the only choice.
Furthermore, SCSA is clearly the winner in bus technology. The capabilities of SCSA are incredible. I predict MVIP will slowly fade into oblivion. Like most engineers in my position, I will be pushing SC-Bus and DLGC boards in our next generation products. Selling my managers on SCSA over MVIP will be a piece of cake.+
You may criticize the managers for their short-term troubles, but give credit where credit is due. Dialogic created the CT market, and continues to push the technology envelope. You suggest a fire-sale to save what;s left. DLGC is still a very strong company. Novell is not strong enough to buy them. Nobody is going to get DLGC for cheap. One or two bad quarters does not change the fact that DLGC is the Microsoft of CT. They are strong and will continue to grow.
IMO: I do not think that a buyout would be good for DLGC. Also since DLGC is still doing well, any buyer would pay a premium. Maybe time for a management change, I'll let the board and major shareholders decide that one. DLGC is a fine company, with bleeding edge technology, and very capable sales and support. Sooner or later, DLGC share price will reflect their dominance in CT. I consider this an excellent buying opportunity. |
