She also held executive positions in Fortune 500 companies, such as Hewlett-Packard, Oracle and Tandem Computers (now Compaq), where she drove high-growth telecommunications lines of business that brought next generation network services and systems to the global market. As vice president of strategy for PTT Telecom Netherlands (now KPN) in the early 1990's, she was responsible for network plans and programs positioning the company to deal with newly introduced competition.
