Moan & groan......and Intel

Just took a look at the portfolio; feels like I was taken out back to the woodshed by the Fed or somebody. I'd be all red, except for Intel. If it weren't for my faith in gorilla gaming, I might be giving serious thought to dumping that bow wow stock of '00, Qualcomm. <vbg>

Intel was an underperformer last year, relative to QQQ, the Nasdaq, to the semiconductor industry, and most of all to itself. I think it gained between 35-40% in '99.

But I like this silverback this year, as long as it is able to execute its stated plans. Given its spotty record last year, that is a significant "if". Nevertheless, Intel this year will surge on the back of the 0.18 micron Pentium III, will push further into the Server market, will continue to capture the low and middle end markets for PC processors when it introduces Timna (PCOAC, ie PC on a chip), and should be introducing Itanium, Intel's first 64 bit chip. Of course, it has stated it continues to expect sharply rising growth in its networking chip efforts, etc. And all this with Windows 2000 coming out, further driving the market.

Haven't followed the Intel story as closely this year, so cannot speak immediately to the details, but I feel Intel could be a double this year.........we'll see.
