Doesn't it make a little bit sense that they would want to work with a leader like Nokia? I don't think there's a company around that would ignore the chance to provide for Nokia if they had the chance.

I'm not sure why you always try to turn the discussion toward Qualcomm, I would prefer to discuss IDC here but since this grew out of an IDC discussion...

Qualcomm does "provide for Nokia", they developed IS-95 without the help of Nokia and then sold them the rights to use their technology for a one time fee and reoccurring royalties on any device that contains their technology. Q has offered to provide Nokia with handset ASIC's that are far superior to the ASIC's Nokia has been able to produce (this is widely recognized) but Nokia has stubbornly refused.

So to answer your questions, Q has provided technology for Nokia and have made superior ASIC's available to improve their CDMA offerings. Why would they want to partner with a company who has shown no CDMA talent worthy of a partnership with Q? Remember, CDMA is Qualcomm's primary area of expertise. Your continued insistence that there is something wrong with Q since they don't partner with Nokia exposes your lack of understanding of Q's business model. Qualcomm is at the top of the foodchain in that they are the furthest removed from the consumer, not in the middle like Nokia.

What business regarding telephony is the Q in besides providing technology? Doesn't it make a little bit sense that they would want to work with a leader like Nokia?

You still haven't responded to my recent post trying to get a little speculation going on the details of this partnership between Nokia and IDC. Until we know these details we won't know if it involves technology transfer or engineering services like product testing. Let's discuss interesting things instead of trying to jump to mysterious conclusions about the lack of a direct partnership between Q and Nokia.

Other sincere opinions welcome,

Bux
