From the news report: Media Fusion has won a U.S. patent on a process it says can send data, video and voice over electric wires...

A rather similar series of stories ran over two years ago - in the Wall St. Journal on Oct. 7 & 8 of 1997. It was a report on "a breakthrough technology" developed by Northern Telecom and United Utilities PLC that "could transform power lines around the world into major conduits on the information super highway." They had tested the system in England and they predicted that "the local monopoly of the incumbent telecom operators is about to be demolished."

Haven't heard anything about it since.
