January 24, 2000 11:26 AM (Full text of press release from Canada NewsWire) J.D. Edwards Canada Ltd. ports results for fiscal year ended October 31, 1999 Company Reports 15% Growth over Same Period Last Year
TORONTO, Jan. 24 /CNW/ - J.D. Edwards Canada Ltd., a leading provider of agile E-Business solutions for Canadian business, has announced a 15% increase in growth during fiscal 1999. The Canadian subsidiary attributes its success to strong sales of its business application software solutions. These agile, interoperable e-business solutions enable customers to quickly put their ideas into action. J.D. Edwards delivered additional functionality and enhanced its e-business capability in the front office, collaborative supply chain management, and e-procurement areas.
Major Highlights include: - The development and launch of Toronto's new state-of-the-art, 20, 000 square foot education centre, designed to extend client services in North America. This initiative allows J.D. Edwards Canada to train North American customers, business partners and employees on the company's software applications. The 10 classrooms contain the latest technology including fully equipped multimedia workstations. - The most exciting room is the Install and Configure Lab, one of only three in the world, designed to train students in the real world installation of J.D. Edward's software. Students perform a complete installation to a server, then deploy the software to workstations exactly as they will at client sites. Until this year, only Denver has been able to offer this unique, one-on-one type of training. - Expansion of supply chain management capabilities. J.D. Edwards expanded its supply chain solution with the acquisition of Toronto based Numetrix, and subsequent integration of OneWorld and the Numetrix supply chain planning system. The combined J.D. Edwards/Numetrix solution offers the most comprehensive line of integrated planning and execution software available in the market today. The solution gives the Company a leadership position in the market as "brick and mortar" companies evolve into e-business companies and want real-time supply chain collaboration with tightly integrated back-office applications. - The appointment of Robert Beauchemin as Vice President and General Manager of Canadian operations. Former President of SAP Canada Robert has held several management and sales management positions for a variety of high technology companies. Robert is responsible for setting strategic direction, managing operations, maintaining corporate culture and building and strengthening the company's position as a leader in the E-business solutions marketplace. - Partnership with IBM Global Services in the creation of a national tour to introduce e-start: a fully integrated and seamless approach to implementing e-business strategies for Canadian companies. E-start is a simple, structured process combining business analysis, strategic thinking, a range of technologies and implementation capabilities that gives organizations "one stop shopping" for their e-business initiatives. - Signing of several new OneWorld customers including: Intrawest Corporation, the leading developer and operator of mountain resorts across North America; Teck Corp; Cominco; World Wide Fiber; Teekay Shipping; Wajax Ltd; Kindersley Transport; Gildan Activewear, a manufacturing company based on Montreal; Standard Paper Box; BioChem Pharmaceautical; Trevi Pools and Royal Group Technologies an Ontario based manufacturer of PVC (polyvinylchloride) building products. - The addition of over 84 new employees to J.D.
