If the stock goes down after such an event they know the stock is not yet safe to buy. If the stock is stable or even manages to go up then it may be bought and upward revisions could follow shortly. Better yet if a tanked stock goes up after falling short of an earnings estimate. >>>

I've always pictured ANALysts kicking a company when it's already down, so they can get the shares lower. In order to scare all the investors away, then scooping much of the cheapo shares up themselves, and hyping it like no tommorow, just to do the same thing over again. = ) <kidding>
