Texas Instruments Net Income Rises 71 Percent

DALLAS (Reuters) - Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE:TXN - news), the No. 1 supplier of computer chips for mobile
phones, on Monday said fourth-quarter net income rose 71 percent, exceeding expectations as sales and profit margins
rose.

Net income climbed to $433 million, or 51 cents a share, from $253 million, or 31 cents, in the same period a year
earlier. Analysts on average had expected the company to show earnings of 47 cents a share in its latest quarter,
according to a survey by First Call/Thomson Financial.
