vc21, I think i have just figured out why JDSU has not been added so far(at least i think i know). I am comparing it to Biogen, another stock in an emerging industry. Biogen has 794 billion in sales even though its market cap is only about 13.8 billion.
I believe that market cap is not a big as a factor as sales and PE.

JDSU's 12month revenue is only 455 million. However, as we add this quarter's number of about 320 million or so and take out the number from last year, we should get over 700 billion in sales and a much higher annualized revenue than Biogen. If they had added JDSU this week, it would set up for similiar additions in the future--an example would be a a net stock that skyrockets. S and P wants to avoid adding "very" speculative stocks until they have proven themselves. They may even have a revenue minimum figure as an unwritten rule. I am sure that JDSU is probably debated among the selection committee. The question probably is how important is market cap?

That is my theory after looking at every new addition in the recent past. Another theory is that S and P would want to avoid adding JDSU this time due to all the rumors. Adding it now could have intrepretated as someone having known inside information.

Conclusion: I think we are in soon but only after the earnings. Once that revenue figure goes up, it becomes automatic, IMHO. Just looking at the Biogen addition makes me convinced.

BTW--I still would want it added February when there may not be as much upside potential. In march we have the split and April the earnings/product announcements.
