After the Bucs had given up the ball for the last time, the Rams players came over to the Bucs bench to rub it in (not according to the press, clearly visable on TV). Again according to the players and the local press, they showed a complete lack of class for a team that had won a playoff game. But I'm sure your version is correct.

You're right about the local press coverage varying about the taunting. Here in St. Louis, the press was complaining about the bad sportsmanship of the Bucs, especially when one of them intercepted a pass and did the "Bob and weave" in the Rams' face. Local reporters on the scene also said there was a lot of mouthing-off to the Rams by players on the Bucs sideline. "The play" was also downplayed here, as it seems to have been nationally - there's only a brief mention of the called-back reception on the CNNSI and ESPN web sites. Fans here are convinced that the Rams defense would have held out in any case.
