AMD usually has about 600k-1M processors on hand at the end of any given quarter. One quarter they had a couple Million to sell down. The fact they only had 300K this quarter and motherboards were in short supply certainly doesn't suggest they have to have a "fire sale".
OTOH, they seem to be able to produce high MHZ chips in quantity. Intel may not be able to do with the "not yet up to speed" floppermine.
