April 15, 1997 -- Dr. Cioffi sells shares to pay taxes. Dr. Cioffi still holds more than 2,000,000 shares in stock and options. Sells were less than 5% of his holdings.
April 7, 1997 -- Amati and Sumitomo Combine Forces to Increase Data Access Speeds in Japan. The partnership is focused on accelerating the deployment of advanced communications services over existing telephone lines, a major initiative for Japan for the multimedia age. According to Sumitomo, the rapid growth of the Internet in Japan has caused increased demands for high-speed data transmission. ADSL is a viable solution since it allows broadband access over existing telephone lines, permitting telephone operators to offer services to their customers such as high speed access to the Internet, networked multimedia, work from home (telecommuting) and ATM to the home. In the U.S., ADSL is being acclaimed as one of the most promising technologies for high-speed Internet access.

March 17, 1997 -- Amati Communications and Euristix, Ltd., a Dublin, Ireland-based international telecommunications software developer, today announced a cooperative agreement for the development of an SNMP-based ADSL element management system. The alliance will capitalize on the expertise of both companies to deliver the most manageable, controllable and easily integrated ADSL management system on the market today.
February 28, 1997 -- Amati announced an extended contract with IBM for the development and manufacture of internetworking products. Amati and IBM have had a long-standing development relationship. In 1989, the initial agreement between Amati (formerly ICOT Corporation) and IBM was announced. Since then, Amati has been involved in more than a dozen different technology development and product manufacturing projects for IBM's customer base. In fiscal 1994, the company completed development of the next generation of local area network (LAN) products which IBM launched into the market. Additionally, Amati worked on several projects to design, develop and manufacture custom communications products for IBM.
February 6, 1997 -- In a breakthrough for digital signal processing (DSP) technology, researchers at Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) have demonstrated the world's lowest power, high-performance DSP operating at one volt and below (a benefit from Amati).
