Eric, your thought re: Q buying Home away from the partnership has been on my mind ever since last Thursday when I read a statement in one of Q's press releases boasting how they would be entering every business and residence with fiber broadband capabilities, before long.
I thought that that was rather bold, perhaps dropping an idea like letting the cat out of the bag for comments, or something. But it's been on my mind ever since.
What do I think of it? I think that it is a possibility, and that they have ample resources to bend the view of T and the other MSOs to make them look the other way. Then again, these guys would be loathe to give up any options in their bag of tricks, so they would probably ask a very high price, probably too high to be able to recover in a reasonable time frame. But as the partners' weighting of ownership begins to decline over time, with ensuing terminations (correct me someone if my assumptions are wrong there), then I see the possibility increasing commensurately.
It's also occurred to me, along these same lines, that a wireless operation with a national footprint might also be interested, like TGNT or NXLK. But Q's bold statement sticks in the back of my mind the most, in this respect.
