" This should be no problem whatsoever - remember, ITanium is starting from GROUND ZERO - so production volumes will necessarily be small in the beginning - and a small initial user base will be adequate. Remember - this is NOT going to be a HIGH VOLUME market - even in the future. Re: "Don't get me wrong. I do believe. I'm just uncertain about the time frame for implementation and acceptance." Don't forget - 386's were once BRAND NEW, 486's were once brand new, Pentium's, etc. - and they all had to run Microsoft software. Except for the FDIV problem, I'm sure the "reliability" of Microsoft's OS's masked any problems of the Intel CPUs ! By the way - guess who was the first passenger to fly in a commercial Jet airplane?
