Rarebird, I think your interpretation of the lagging XAU vs. POG as bad for POG flawed. First let's throw away the charts. Let's consider the fundamentals.
1. There have been many false starts with POG.
2. XAU is leveraged to POG.
3. XAU are miners.
4. Miners are heavily hedged.
5. Gold inventory is constantly threaten to the gold market.
6. Past gold buying signals and forecasting fail regularly.

Based on simple observation one may conclude that it rains because people open umbrellas. I would suggest that the XAU will lag POG until the market is convinced that it should be otherwise. JMHO
