Before the bell, Walt Disney: Shares gained in after-hours trading on the back of stronger-than-expected earnings released after the close. Disney posted profits of $515 million for the fourth quarter, or 25 cents per diluted share, up 9% over a year ago and 5 cents better than First Call consensus forecast. Revenues rose 5% to $6.8 billion.

The results excluded a loss at Disney's Internet venture, GO.com. The company also appointed Robert Iger its new president and chief operating officer, ending the uncertainty surrounding the unfilled post. The shares closed down 1/4 at 32 1/2 but should draw support from the earnings news at Tuesday's opening
