Steve, there is a lot of discussion of cree and gmst on the G&K thread, you might go there and do a search over the last couple of months. In a nutshell, though, gmst is the inventor of the VCR+ guide to program VCR's, and has IPR to electronic program guide technology used by practically all cable and satellite companies, as well as being built in to modern tv's. They are buying TV Guide, and just recently bought e-books, and they are structured to become a royalty king or gorilla in the convergence of TV and the internet. CREE is an LED manufacturer that is using SiC instead of sapphire compunds to develop their LEDs. They can manufacture cheaper LEDs requiring less power, which is ideal for mobile devices. They also develop high power LEDs good for highway signs, stadiums, etc, and are developing FETs for power applications, such as cellular towers. They are both gorilla candidates but are still premature, so it is a good idea to put seed money into them but not the whole enchilada.
What I'm doing is buying a little common, and a few calls as far out as I can, giving them a little time to prove themselves. |
