As of Jan.15/00 the short position was 1,607,629 shares. That is down from a peak of 4,004,904 on Oct. 15/99.

As to the reason for the drop, I believe it is 2 fold.
The declared cut in the dividend payment. As well it is not a technology stock so it is not in favour with most investors. I have none at the moment but I am getting close to taking the plunge.
