Elmer,
RE:"In my view, what we have been seeing is, the company who has leftover unsold product tries to dump it on pricewatch. The company who has sold all their highspeed product has none leftover for pricewatch. Not scientific either but it accounts for the facts as well as your theory"...

You're trying to be oppositional. OK, but this looks a little tongue in cheek on your part.

RE:"My recollection of Intel's CC was Paul Otellini said Intel had shipped "millions". That's all I remember them saying.

That's pretty vague and Otellini is the one who said that the fact that people would take a free PC w/cpu serial number as proof the public would accept the CPU identification thingy...so I take him with a grain of salt. With at least 4 fabs choking out Floppers one would expect millions. Intel may not be that far behind on their Flopper launch plan. They just didn't expect to see the Athlon spoiling their little party with high speed chips.

RE:"BTW - Whatever happened about that Willamette delay? I still haven't heard anything in public.

I doubt we would hear anything in public. We'll know why if Willy isn't widely available until First qtr 2001 instead on 3rd QTR 2000.
Intel will protect itself and image. We know that. They will also make QTR 1 2000 earnings estimates.
OTOH, Mercedes (Intel) didn't go away when Lexus (Athlon) showed up...but Mercedes had to learn to live with Lexus...and give up some market share.
