I lived in Decatur, neighbor. My Dad was with ABMA, which became NASA, so he was one of the originals. Worked on Redstone, Jupiter, Saturn, and Shuttle. (He predicted, very quietly to me, before the first shuttle was even rolled out, that the STS program would have big problems because of their "new" contracting techniques, compared to ealier programs.)

I watched Hsv boom as well. Its still booming. I have spent considerable time at Marshall Space Flight Center in my professional life over the last 20 years. It was always a strange experience for me because MSFC was such a big part of my childhood.

I remember hearing rocket motor tests booming the whole valley for 100 mile radius or more. Heady, heady times. I can remember seeing Sputnik from my front yard like it was yesterday. Scary time.

BTW, RE: MSA. Those policies are only available to self-employed.
