Sam - I agree. Also hockey goes a lot deeper in the Canadian psyche than do other more traditional businesses. The reason the Canadian teams are in this trouble is the difference in the American dollar and not because they pay their people too much or have not got their house in order. In Alberta we subsidize the oil and gas companies to an extent that is greater than any industry gets in any other province or state in North America even as they show record profits. Then the provincial government takes a stand against hockey and says that they're not in the business of business. West Edmonton Mall has gotten far more in tax breaks in the past 10 years than the Oilers would get in 100 yet the City throws their hands up and says that they're not in the business of business.
