<< am viewing Greenspan's cancelled speech as a good omen. I know I'm blessed, I would guess the rest of you are also.

Can I get an Amen!>>

Not from me, I'd rather get the speech over with. People don't seem to realize that AG is waging an almost purely psychological war on the markets. He has very few actual arrows in his quiver and has imho been very successful by simply threatening with those. He is genuinely afraid of irrational exuberance and wants to keep his powder dry as long as possible. If he uses it he loses it!

The driving forces of todays market are more powerful relative to the Fed than ever before. While AG is starting to appreciate the deflationary impact of technologically driven efficiencies, imho he fails to fully factor in the even greater effect of globalization. We'll just have wait to see if that also has the effect of repealing the business cycle as we know it. Allan doesn't think thats possible medium to long term. His threats, however, make it more likely by keeping a lid of anxiety o'er our bubbling pot of avarice.
