D., guessing APTS chances is a little bit of a crapshoot. But on the Internet side of the business, they are taking the high road with respect to scalability and stability in order to appeal to the largest customers. Many APTS customers have taken a two-tier approach to the
problem of accessing host data from the browser. A few others, including Apertus, have taken a three-tier approach with a middle, server layer. But Apertus' server is UNIX based, rather than WinNT, and that's an important distinction from a scalability standpoint. Finally, Fortune 500 companies are still approaching this concept of accessing mainframe data from browsers very cautiously. It's in the early stages. Of course, that doesn't help Apertus' financials.

The data warehousing side involves a completely different set of circumstances.
